About Us
Hi, I am Carol Murphy and I purchased Tuscany on Thames in December 2017. In 2012 I was looking for a change of career option after being a travel agent for over 25 years. I purchased the lease to a motel in Pukekohe and loved it so much that I decided I needed to buy my own. I asked my agent to see if she could find me one in Thames as my first option. I wanted to live in a smaller town and had always loved the Thames area. Lucky me she found Tuscany on Thames and there was no need for a second option. I love it here and so the good vibes I had always got were for a reason. I plan on staying here and running my business until the day comes when I can't greet a guest or answer the phone with a smile on my face.
Of course a good motel is only as good as the people that work with me to make it so. Members of the team 'Lynne and Janet' that were here when I purchased the motel are still doing a superb job in keeping the units to an excellent standard. 2020 has been a unusual year but we are making the most of what we have. Janet stepped up to a supervisor role. Our Canadian Rebecca came on board as a supervisor in July and she has learned the motel minding side of the position so that I am able to get away for a break. Catherine has joined the team in November and learning the supervisor role. We also have 'Brian' in our team as we needed a handyman to do all those things that boys do better than girls - actually maybe not better at but we don't want to do them and his abilities are a tribute to him. Everyone here is well past the half century in age (oops not quite true since we got Rebecca) and we all just get on with doing what we do best and it works very well.
